Beer Shakes, Sorbet Bellini’s, and of course:  gelato. These sweet items are the reasons you should visit Shaw’s Dolci Gelati now that the warm weather has returned to DC.

I was hesitant a couple years ago when I heard about wine flavored ice cream. I had the same hesitation when I heard about the Beer Shakes Dolci Gelati  now offers. Unlike the wine flavored ice cream, I was pleasantly surprised with this alcoholic sweet and even had seconds – don’t worry, the samples were small. If beer isn’t your beverage of choice, the sparkling drinks should be an exceptional alternative, which Al discovered. Now that Dolci has their wine and beer license, expect many other boozy beverages to hit the shop in the coming months!

Even with a new season upon us, sundaes, gelato pops, and other traditional favorites can still be found on the menu. Our favorite addition was the opportunity to experience freshly made gelato from  Pastry Chef Gianluigi Dellaccio’s vintage machine. And don’t forget, Dolci Gelati is dog friendly and provides 4 legged treats as well!

If you’re unable to make it to Shaw, you can always enjoy gelato in Old Town Alexandria, Takoma Park, or during the ballgame at the Nat’s stadium.

Tell us: what’s your favorite warm weather treat?

Cheers!
