You rescued Me”.   Those were the last words I whispered into my darling girl’s ears.

Miah, my soul mate, left us on July 3rd, 2015.

Miah-4

She was surrounded by the people who loved her the most, including Ivan. She died peacefully in her favorite place on our farm in NY, and was laid to rest underneath my tree.

Ivan and I visit her everyday, and sob uncontrollable tears at the ache of her absence.

As if grieving isn’t difficult enough on my own, watching Ivan cope without her has shattered what remained of my broken heart. He isn’t the same – his eyes are forlorn, and there is little joy to be found at all. It turned out a piece of both of us went with her that day, a piece we will never get back.

I had wanted to write this post in advance, as I predicted the incredible pain that would accompany typing these words. However, the pain I imagined does not even come close to what I feel today, the kind that makes you have to remember to breathe.

Today, July 6th, would have been her 10th birthday.

In honor of my soul mate, I am doing something I have never done before. I have never asked anything of anybody, campaigned, or requested donations of any sort. Today, I am asking you to consider helping us keep Miah’s memory alive. I have started a Crowdrise Fundraiser, Miah’s Legacy, to go to the rescue organization that is responsible for giving me my two best friends in the entire world. Save-A-Pet of Niagara County works tirelessly to place unwanted animals with a forever home, and it is my sincere hope that this fundraiser will help enable them to continue doing so.

Many people have asked what they can do, if anything. Aside from willing her back into this world, this is the next best thing. If you would like to show your support, please click here to make a donation:

Miah, Mommy loves you, my beautiful girl, and I miss you more than you could ever, ever know. I will never be complete without you.
