One of the many flash flood warnings had popped up on our phones and we realized we only had a couple minutes to slip into a bar before getting soaked. We opened the door to Pop’s SeaBar, took one sip of a cold Orange Crush, and began thinking more about the beach than we did the storm blowing by the window. If someone told me there was a beach shack in Adams Morgan I would’ve probably laughed. Besides the lack of sand and waves crashing against the shore, a beach shack is exactly what you’ll find at Pop’s SeaBar.

Though we’re always looking for the next great restaurant to open, we’re also equally interested in finding great DC hangouts. We love sitting at the bar to enjoy a relaxed vibe – we might not be eating like kings or queens at this location, but that doesn’t mean it’s not well worth the trip.

The Peel ‘n’ Eat Shrimp, calamari, and sliders were the highlights for us in the food department. You can’t really think about the beach without shrimp, so it jives well with the overall concept.

The next time you’re in Adams Morgan or rushing to find cover from the pending storm, stop into Pop’s SeaBar for a small tropical escape from reality.

Cheers!
