Traditionally, Friday night in our household means take-out pizza. Last Friday, it meant a fantastic date night at Del Ray Pizzeria.

Though Scott had been many years ago, this was my first trip to the local favorite. I love that it operates out of residential structure, making it that much more “hometown”. The patio was full on that beautiful Friday evening, so Scott and I settled at a high top table in the bar area, though I am making it a priority to sit outside next time.

We ordered a couple drinks, which was no easy feat with over 70 craft beers listed on the menu.  We arrived a little after 7, missing out on their Happy Hour Specials, which we will be sure to catch in the future ($2 off all appetizers and draft beer).

Scott and I have yet to come to terms with our differing pizza tastes, and have compromised for the most part. I adore mushrooms and black olives – Scott does not. He likes pineapple, I do not. So we settled on the Pancho Villa (red sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, spicy ground beef, tomatoes, olives, jalapeƱos, romaine) and left olives on half.

Guys – this pizza was epic. One of my favorite pies to date. The crust was soft but well done, and the amount of toppings were not skimpy, which is important in my book. Thankfully, by leaving olives on half I ensured my part of the pie, or I’m pretty sure this picture would have ended up differently:
