Attending weddings can be expensive, time consuming, stressful, and an absolute epic event! I’ve attended weddings of friends, families, and for people I have never met before, because I really do love the entire celebration.

As Al and I begin the planning process for ours, here are 8 reasons why I love weddings:

1. The dancing. At most weddings you have a group of people who are masters of their footwork and others who had just the right amount of drinks to bust a move. Is there anything better than having someone with no rhythm dancing their heart out?

2. Who doesn’t love a party with all your closest family and friends? Time to let loose and gather stories that will last forever. For years to come you’ll be able to say, “remember that time when…”

3. You get to look for “that guy” at the wedding. Every wedding has that distant cousin or friend you felt obligated to invite. They’re often seated in some back table and can commonly be found at the bar. Don’t be confused and assume they’re a loner, the second they open up the inappropriate jokes and stories will start coming out.

4. There’s cake! Who doesn’t love a good piece of cake after dinner before hitting the dance floor.

5. Every party needs a food fight. Some people see it as an outdated spectacle, but I love the anticipation around whether or not someone is getting cake shoved in their face.

6. Weddings provide another excuse to pull out some nicer clothes and dress up for the night. As wonderful as jeans and a t-shirt can be, pulling on a suit and tie isn’t half bad either.

7. No matter where, the venue is always a sight to be seen. Some couples go all out and spend unimaginable amounts on the location, while others find other ways to make places look like a million bucks just by creating an authentic and genuine atmosphere. We love seeing personal style reflected in the venue of choice.

8. Even though it’s the last reason on the list, I love the fact that two people are getting married. The bride has the expensive dress, but the guy is the one with the look on his face as he’s seeing her for the first time walking down the aisle.

Weddings are far from being perfect, but how can you not love them?
