Before getting into all of the Thanksgiving related events in a couple weeks, the news around town is that the DC Beer Festival is returning and several restaurants are holding special events. Get planning, as they are fast approaching…

For the second straight year, the DC Beer Festival will be taking over Nationals Park this Saturday, November 8. Can you really afford to miss out on favorites from 75 breweries? Probably not. General admission runs from 1 PM – 4 PM and costs $40, while VIP admission gives you an extra hour starting at noon ($60), and includes a special tasting the first hour. With the beers, ciders, and more you’ll be drinking ready your stomachs for the several food trucks that will also be in attendance.

Daikaya is hosting a late-night guest chef event at the izakaya this Saturday, November 8 from 11 PM – 1 AM. In addition to Executive Chef Fuskushima you’ll have the opportunity to sample dishes from guest chefs Jonah Kim and Jesse Miller of Bar Pilar and CafĂ© Saint-Ex, Danny Lee of Mandu and Will Morris of Vermillion. This event takes place at a late hour, but is it really one you can manage to miss? The answer is no.

After launching the La Tomate Caffe this summer, La Tomate is kicking off their Free Taste Tuesday promotion on November 11th. On specific Tuesdays in November and December (11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9), La Tomate Caffe’ will offer free offerings at every meal with the purchase of specific menu items. For breakfasts a free croissant with purchase of Illy Cappuccino. latte, or espresso; lunch a free small plate with the purchase of a sandwich or salad; free soup of the day with the purchase of a sandwich or salad.

Logan Tavern is partnering with DC’s Atlas Brew Works to host a five-course Brewing Harvest Dinner on Monday, November 17th at 7 PM. The 5-course dinner will feature produce sourced from the EatWell Natural Farm, and each course is paired with an Atlas Brew Works beer, selected for the course by the Head Brewer. On Tuesday, November 18 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM, America Eats Tavern (1700 Tysons Blvd inside the Ritz Carlton at Tysons Corner) will host a cookbook party for Sean Brock’s Heritage, which has just been named a New York Times Bestseller. Ticket information and purchases can be found here.

On Wednesday, November 19th from 6 PM – 9 PM, acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval will host a release party around the launch of his new cookbook Richard Sandoval’s New Latin Flavors.The event will be held at Toro Toro (1300 I Street, NW) and will be open to the public. The price of admission is $75, which includes a signed copy of the cookbook, unlimited appetizers, and a $25 gift card for any of Sandoval’s restaurants.
