Wouldn’t it be wonderful if supporting a cause could be as easy as going out to dinner? By supporting Dining Out for Life 2014, it really is just that easy. With over 100 DC-area restaurants, there are plenty of options to pick from, too.

My Uncle Bob lost his life, and 4 year battle with HIV/AIDS in 1992, when I was only 8 years old. I’ve done my best to participate in a range of events from AIDS Awareness Walks to college fundraisers, supporting more awareness for this awful disease that took a relative of mine years ago. This story is one that is all to common to many of you, which is why I want to pass this opportunity along.

This Thursday, April 24th, 100 DC-area restaurants have pledged to donate 25%-100% of that day’s proceeds to families in the capital region who are Food & Friend’s Clients living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses throughout the National Capital Region. Participating restaurants can be found in just about every neighborhood, from several longtime classics to some new favorites. Last year’s event raised more than $225,000! Stand with the hundreds of thousands across North America on Thursday, by dining out, and support those living with these life-challenging illnesses.index

For those of you unfamiliar with Food & Friends, the organization was formed in 1988, and provides home-delivered meals, groceries, and nutrition counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses free of charge.

This week, when you’re making plans for the weekend ahead, strongly consider making a difference on Thursday by just going out to dinner.

Cheers!
