After much hype, STK is finally opening their doors in the Dupont Circle neighborhood today. STK, which has locations in several major cities across the US, markets themselves as a “female-friendly” steakhouse and chic lounge. If the addition of a lounge isn’t enough to draw your interest, the added energy of a DJ should do the trick. In short, take everything you know about a steak restaurant and forget it. STK is about to knock your socks off!

STK offers small, medium, and large portions of steak in addition to several other menu options. Our introduction to STK came at the Washington City Paper’s Best of DC, when we were served sliders and cucumber stiletto cocktails, both of which were favorites of ours from that night. So when we were invited to their VIP opening last night, we were pretty excited.

As we walked up, the 50 other people waiting in line was our clear indication that we were in the right place. All of the hype we had heard about STK was certainly being outdone, and I was convinced any minute the Presidential motorcade was going to pull up with the President and First Lady. Though the line was long, STK employees walked around introducing themselves to everyone and apologizing for the wait. The wait also gave us a chance to talk to Rebekah from EpicureanDC, who had already been inside and told us all about the celebration going on. Thanks to a couple friends we were able to skip ahead and join the party a little earlier than expected.

When inside, we had the chance to try everything from fried mac & cheese to tuna tar tar, and of course those wonderful sliders we fell in love with at Best of DC. Word had clearly gotten out about the sliders, because every time someone walked out of the kitchen with a plate a heard of attendees went running for them; my long arms came in handy during these moments.

As I said, STK is going to blow you away. From the food to the atmosphere they’ve created, with the help of a DJ, this is more than just a sit down steakhouse. Make your reservations early and often, because this is bound to be a hotspot from the moment it officially opens.

STK is located at 1250 Connecticut Avenue, Washington, DC, and is open from 5-11pm Monday-Wednesday and 5-midnight Thursday-Saturday.

Cheers!
